Wausau Board of Public Works approves three contractor payments, votes to enter closed session

The Wausau Board of Public Works on May 6 approved three pay estimates totaling $214,276.86 and voted to enter closed session to consider contractor prequalification statements for the 2025 street seal coating project and to deliberate claims under the Wisconsin Statutes.
The board approved payment estimate No. 1 to Austin's Incorporated for the 25th Street construction work on Randolph and Cherry streets in the amount of $121,572.45. "I'll move to approve those," said Board member (Speaker 2), and the motion was seconded by Board member (Speaker 3) and approved by voice vote.
The board approved the final payment of $53,734.57 to Advanced Coating Solutions for stairwell cleaning and coating at the Jefferson parking ramp after a walk-through found the contractor had corrected punch-list and deficiency items. Board member (Speaker 1) moved approval; Board member (Speaker 2) seconded and the motion carried.
The board also approved pay estimate No. 1 of $38,969.84 to SD Allen Becker for construction of the Alexander Airport Park pickleball courts. The payment was reviewed and approved by staff member Jamie, moved by Board member (Speaker 1), seconded by Board member (Speaker 3) and approved by voice vote.
Later in the meeting the board voted to go into closed session "pursuant to Wisconsin Statutes §19.85(1)(d) for considering and deliberating on prequalification statements for the 2025 street seal coating project, and pursuant to Wisconsin Statutes §19.85(1)(g) for deliberating on claims," as moved by Board member (Speaker 1) and seconded by Board member (Speaker 3). The motion carried on a voice vote.
No dissenting votes or conditions on the payments were recorded in the public portion of the meeting. The board did not disclose any deliberations from the closed session on the record.
