The Hingham School Committee on May 5 approved a proposed student trip to Quebec City scheduled for Feb. 26–28, 2026.
Stacy Turner, director of world language (presenting on behalf of Ariane Swearingen), described the educational objective as an authentic language-immersion experience for students to use classroom skills in French-speaking settings and learn about Quebec’s history and culture. When asked if financial aid would be available for students who need it, Turner said she could not confirm in the meeting but would follow up with details and work with the administration to make accommodations.
A motion to approve the Quebec trip was made, seconded and carried by the committee. Committee members asked that organizers ensure accommodations where needed and communicate financial-aid options to families once confirmed.
