Superintendent says town meeting approved school capital articles; previews Foster School library dedication and strategic plan

Superintendent Katie told the Hingham School Committee on May 5 that town meeting approved all school-related warrant articles the district supported, including schematic designs for the Hingham High School roof and HVAC system, schematic designs for the South and Plymouth River School roof projects, a turf field and bus leases.

"So we're grateful that all school related, warrant articles, including those relating to schematic designs for the HHS roof and HVAC, the schematic designs for the South and Plymouth River School roof projects, the turf field and bus leases all receive broad support by the community," Katie said, thanking Ayesha Opong, executive director for business services, and Matt Meehan, director of facilities, for their work on the warrant articles.

Katie also gave a schedule of upcoming programs: arts events across K–12, the Hingham High School spring play, and a family presentation by the Plymouth County district attorney’s office on cyber safety for caregivers and students. She said the district will host a dedication of the new Foster School library on Monday, May 19, in honor of former METCO director Camilla Rountree, and that the next school committee meeting will be held at the new Foster School.

Katie said the strategic-planning steering committee is on track to complete the content of the 2025–2028 strategic plan in early June; the committee will see an early draft in advance and the final product will be shared with the community this summer.
