Board approves Brian Zurface as principal of Nancy Young Elementary

Superintendent Adrian Talley introduced Zurface and said he is joining Indian Prairie from Kaineland School District, where he has served as principal of McDowell Elementary School since 2022 and previously worked as an assistant principal and elementary teacher. Talley told the board that Zurface emphasized relationship building with staff, students and families during his interviews.
A board member moved to approve the appointment “as presented.” The board then took a roll call and the motion passed. After the vote, Zurface addressed the board, saying, “On behalf of myself and my family, I’m thrilled to be joining the District 204 and so proud of the opportunity and truly humbled to… be joining Nancy Young Elementary School.” He and his wife were in the audience.
Why it matters: School principal appointments determine building leadership for curriculum, staff support and family engagement. Talley described Zurface’s priorities as establishing relationships with staff, supporting teachers and building strong parent partnerships.
