The Laramie City Council voted 9‑0 on May 6 to approve a three‑year professional services agreement with Klinger Hagerman to perform the city’s financial and federal single audits for fiscal years 2025 through 2027.
Director Wade told council the city issued an RFP, received four proposals and ranked the firms by required criteria. Klinger Hagerman had the highest score and the lowest cost among firms that met all requirements, including the ability to work with the city’s financial reporting software. Wade said the three‑year price of $241,050 represents a 1.8% increase over the prior contract and that requiring auditors to use the city’s software reduced implementation cost and timeline risk.
Wade noted audit market conditions had improved since 2022 when staff struggled to get proposals due to national workforce shortages in accounting; the RFP required firms to commit to issuing the opinion by Dec. 31 each year. Councilors praised the firm’s performance under the prior contract and staff’s procurement work. Councilor Shumway said he appreciated the reliability of past audits and meeting deadlines.
The motion was moved by Councilor Newman and seconded by Vice Mayor Richardson and passed by roll call.
