County staff reported that Northwest Family Connections Resource Center presented childcare-certification data to the Human Services Committee and that staff will review the materials with the Department of Children and Families next week.
Shawna White (spelled Shawna/Shawna in the packet) said county staff continue outreach and free training to recruit providers but that the region still needs additional certified childcare providers. She said one regional office moved from Chicago to Kansas City, and staff expressed uncertainty about whether positions remained in the area following that change.
Committee members did not adopt actions at the meeting but scheduled a follow-up review with DCF and said they hope to expand provider recruitment and certification assistance locally.
