The committee approved an agreement between DuPage County and the Child Friendly Court Foundation for use of space in the judicial office facility on the county campus for May 1, 2025–May 31, 2026. The agenda item described the annual amount as not to exceed $1. The motion was moved, seconded and carried during the meeting.
A staff member explained the action regularizes occupancy because the county had not previously executed a formal lease with the nonprofit. The same staff member said Safe Harbor (described in the meeting as the nonprofit providing services) is currently funded with American Rescue Plan Act interest funds; staff said the nonprofit had run out of other funding and that the county has money set aside in ARPA interest for 2026 as well. During the discussion staff estimated Safe Harbor funding at roughly $100,000–$105,000 per year.
Committee members had no further discussion and approved the agreement. Staff did not specify additional lease terms beyond the one-year period described in the agenda item. The committee asked for no further action at the meeting beyond approval of the agreement.
