Commission approves $83,000 in RAMP EZ grants to local projects

Kevin Burns, representing RAMP, told commissioners the EZ grants are $2,000 awards "designed to get little projects that cities and 501(c)(3)s have" and to expose small groups to the grant application process. Burns said the program helps applicants grow into larger projects, noting the EZ cycle represented a small portion of RAMP's overall $7 million season.
Commissioner Gage Frower moved approval of the RAMP EZ grant list as presented; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously. Commissioners praised staff and volunteers who administer the program and highlighted park projects among the awardees.
Burns noted the EZ grants are intended to be "easy to apply for" with light paperwork and to provide a modest push for community projects; he said the program also helps identify projects that can later seek larger RAMP awards. Commissioners discussed the number of potential recipients the EZ total would support and the community benefits of visible projects funded through the program.
The commission approved the recommendation on the consent agenda with a formal motion during the action items portion of the meeting.
