Area Agency on Aging marks Older Americans Month, urges local advocacy as federal funding debates continue

Heidi Boswell, representing the Lewis Mason Thurston Area Agency on Aging, and cohort Terry Oste appeared before the Lewis County Board of Commissioners on May 6 to mark Older Americans Month and ask for community support for aging services.
"This year, the theme is flip the script on aging, a time to recognize older Americans' contributions, highlight aging trends, and reaffirm our commitment to serving older adults," Boswell said. She asked residents and officials to challenge stereotypes about aging and to "share our stories about the impact of those services," noting federal investments that support healthy aging are being debated in Congress.
Boswell identified herself as vice chair of the agency board and said the AAA board has six members. Commissioners thanked Boswell and Oste for their service and for reporting to regional bodies.
