The Medford School Committee on May 5 approved a motion to convene the Family Engagement and Communication Subcommittee to develop protocols for family-facing communications around after-school enrollment and academic transitions.
Member Reinfeld said families repeatedly ask what to expect for after‑school lotteries and transitions into kindergarten, middle and high school. He framed the subcommittee as a way to centralize and standardize communications and to support building-level staff. “I would just like to have a deeper conversation and bring, director Pipicelli into that conversation to discuss how his position can support some of these very broad communications,” Reinfeld said.

Superintendent Dr. Suzanne Golusi and other members supported the idea, noting previous meet-and-greets raised similar concerns. The motion was approved without amendment.
