Board approves downtown street closure for Rams Ride motorcycle charity event on Aug. 2

The Board of Public Works and Safety approved a request for a downtown street closure to accommodate the Rams Ride motorcycle charity event on Aug. 2, 2025.
Organizer Terry Miller described the ride as a motorcycle charity that directs a portion of proceeds to multiple sclerosis research and said the event will stage between about 20 and 75 motorcycles for roughly an hour in front of the Artcraft on Main Street and Jefferson. Miller said the group had maps for ingress and egress and was open to police guidance on the final routing.
"This is a motorcycle charity where a % of the proceeds go to multiple sclerosis research," Miller said. He asked for a 90-minute shutdown for safety and for traffic control both entering and exiting the staging area.
Board members reported no prior issues with the event and Chief Cochran confirmed the department has not had problems in previous years. The board approved the request by voice vote.
The organizer said the event provides exposure for the city and hopes to work with the Artcraft marquee for additional publicity.
Police will coordinate final routing and staffing for the closure, and the organizer indicated he will provide required maps and coordination materials to the department.
