Council approves reappointments, new committee appointments and memorial plaque for Caroline Friedman

Item 7 (reappointments) was amended to reappoint Joseph Marcoccio as an alternate member on Parks & Recreation (term to 05/31/2028) and the amended reappointments passed 5-0.
- Memorial plaque: Vice President Berard publicly acknowledged a Parks & Recreation recommendation for a memorial plaque honoring Caroline Friedman at Barrington Beach bench. Council approved placement of the plaque by unanimous vote. The plaque text was described in materials submitted by the superintendent.
- Appointments after interviews (Agenda item 15): The council conducted interviews and appointed the following volunteers: - Chris Martin appointed as a full member of the Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee (term to 03/31/2028). - Michael Walters appointed as a first alternate to the Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee (term to 03/31/2027). - Paige Ron appointed as a second alternate to the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee (term to 09/30/2026). - Ryan Friend appointed as a full member of the Housing Board of Trustees (term to 09/30/2025).
Each appointment was made by motion, seconded and carried unanimously. During BPAC interviews, candidates described multimodal planning experience (Chris Martin, principal planner in Providence) and community experience (Michael Walters, resident and parent who bikes with children). DEI and Housing Board candidates summarized relevant professional and lived experience.
