Mayor Barnett nominated Spangberg and asked him to approach the microphone to introduce himself. "My name is Mike Spomburg. Been here about 12 years. I met the mayor about 10 years ago on that hostage situation. And stayed in contact through the entire time," Spangberg said, adding he and his family are invested in Franklin and he'd like to give back.
Board members voted in favor of the nomination by voice vote.
Planning Director Joanna Timmick later welcomed Michael to the Planning Commission during department reports.
The board did not record a roll-call vote; the public record shows the appointment was approved by the Board of Works at the May 5 meeting.
