The Greene County Board of Commissioners on May 9 approved a resolution designating a local transit organization as the county's public transit provider to enable the group's 2026 grant application.
Becky Guthrie, appearing before the board, said the designation is needed "for me to submit my grant for next year for 2026" and asked the commissioners to sign a prepared resolution stating they want the organization to "be your public transit provider." She described the program's local importance: "I know several people that would really be lost without it."
Commissioners asked whether Guthrie should return for the county budget hearings; Guthrie said she would submit a letter with her funding request and could return for the hearings. The board moved and approved resolution 2025-O3 by voice vote.
The resolution authorizes staff to sign the prepared document and to consider Guthrie's future budget request during the county budget process; there was no immediate allocation of county funds at the May 9 meeting.
