Montview residents seek committee support for walkability grants and community campaigns

Claudia asked the committee to review the Smith study and the Deirdre Walkway materials she had previously shared and to offer formal backing when the neighborhood pursues outside grants. She also said the Montview working group had joined the week‑without‑driving campaign and planned outreach to sign residents up to commit to not driving for a week.
Committee members told Claudia they would check whether the emailed materials reached committee distribution lists and that they would circulate her documentation to ensure members have the background. No formal endorsement or grant application by the committee was recorded during the meeting.
Claudia said the neighborhood has worked with the city in past years on traffic calming and called for more partnership so citizen volunteers can help identify grant opportunities and advance walking improvements.
The committee did not take formal action at the meeting but agreed to circulate Claudia’s materials and to stay engaged if specific grant opportunities are identified.
