"We got that renewal from DNR on Monday, April 14. So that's, and we'll continue accepting liquids in the landfill," the company representative said.
The representative also said annual reports for the "new hill" and the "old hill" have been submitted to the DNR, and that a DNR wetlands walkthrough was completed recently as part of a feasibility review. Company staff are awaiting DNR comments on outstanding items.
Construction and operations updates included plans to bid for a new, higher‑capacity flare (intended to be installed in Q3–Q4), demolition of the recycling transfer station building (the "America Building") pending We Energies disconnect and a demo permit from the City of Franklin, and awarded cell construction (clay excavation and on‑site soil handling) with a target to obtain cell permits by the end of Q3. Operations will continue in area 3B with a new lift; company staff said they expect to be working in that area for about six months.
The representative said the company is increasing temporary crews and walking site roads weekly to remove tracked debris; a community litter pickup with the Lions Club was scheduled for a Saturday morning with about 30–35 volunteers signed up.
Committee members approved the waste management report by voice vote during the meeting; no roll‑call individual votes were recorded in the transcript.
No regulatory enforcement actions were announced at the meeting. Committee members and company staff said permitting and demolition timelines depend on third parties, including We Energies and DNR review schedules.
