License Commission approves Abandoned Building Brewery permit for farmers markets

The Northampton License Commission voted unanimously April 20 to approve a farmer's market permit for Abandoned Building Brewery LLC, allowing the business to sell canned beer and offer 1- to 2-ounce samples at the city's farmers market on alternating Tuesdays from April 22 through Nov. 11, 2025, between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.
The application was presented by Matt Tarlecki, who said this is Abandoned Building Brewery's first year participating in the Northampton Farmers Market. Tarlecki said the company has experience at beer festivals and other area events and noted the legislature recently permitted breweries to vend at farmers markets. "This is our first time doing a farmers market because the state just passed a law this year allowing breweries to be at farmer's markets," he said.
Commission staff confirmed permit paperwork was complete. Commissioners asked whether sales would be in cans rather than an on-premise beer garden; Tarlecki said the booth would sell cans and offer small samples only. After brief questions commissioners moved and seconded approval; roll call recorded unanimous approval by the three commissioners present.
Because the permit covers public markets, commissioners and staff noted compliance requirements for verifying age during samples and that on-premise consumption of full pours is not allowed under the application. The commission made no changes to the standard conditions included in the application.
