The provider told county staff they intend to seek adolescent services after roughly six months of operation and are exploring longer-term inpatient possibilities. The applicants also said they can help mitigate local transportation barriers by operating a van for client transport; the planned office is near a bus stop.
Process note: Under Minnesota rules the provider must obtain a statement of support from the county board as part of state certification; the letter does not constitute county licensing or oversight and does not obligate the county financially. Commissioners and staff noted the county does not directly oversee provider licensing (that remains a state process) but that a county letter helps prospective providers meet certification requirements.
Board action: Commissioner Ebinger moved to provide a written letter of support identifying local needs Helping Hands aims to address; Commissioner Kravanoff seconded. The motion carried by voice vote.
