Board approves multiple policy updates and amends student‑physical‑exam language to mirror RSA 232

The Brentwood School Board voted to adopt several policy revisions, withdraw others, and specifically amended the student physical‑examination policy (JLCA) to mirror RSA 232's language on required exams.
Staff provided a packet of policy revisions driven by statutory changes and committee review. Board members discussed the role of policies that restate existing law—one member called some policies “redundant”—and staff explained that policies provide an administrative layer and clarify implementation. The policy list included IHBAC, JFABD, JFABE, JICDD, JLCCB, JLCH, JLF and JLP; the board approved those revisions and also moved to withdraw IHBDA, JFABD R1, JFAC, JKB, JKD and JKE.
Board members then moved to amend JLCA (physical examination of pupils). Citing RSA 232, a motion was made to replace JLCA’s first sentence so it reads: “There shall be a complete physical examination by a licensed physician, physician assistant, or advanced practice registered nurse of each child prior to or upon first entry into the public school system and thereafter as often as deemed necessary by the local school authority.” The board approved the amendment.
The board passed the motions by voice vote; minutes reflect motions, seconds and unanimous consent. Staff will incorporate the RSA language into the policy document and update the board packet.
