The district compared Purposeful People to the previous program (Fly 5) and noted that Fly 5’s subscription costs were much higher; staff said Fly 5 had been more expensive and less flexible for the district’s needs. Staff reported the annual quoted cost for Purposeful People is $3,400—“down from $22,000” that the previous subscription had required.
Principal report and staff said other SAU elementary schools already use Purposeful People and that it aligns with district CARES/work-study goals and vertical alignment with middle‑school expectations. Staff described available campus resources, family newsletters, teacher activities and a video library included in the vendor package; staff also said some modular online professional development is available but at an additional cost.
A board member moved that the district adopt Character Strong’s Purposeful People; a second followed and the motion passed. The board asked staff to consider whether to purchase vendor training now or rely on pilot teachers and SAU resources to implement initially.
