Ron reviewed the calendar and explained the MOA language allowing teachers a contractual flex day in August and a second flex day for evening commitments. He summarized key dates: the August flex/professional day, the first day of school on August 25, parent‑teacher conference and early release dates through the year, and a proposed early release aligning with other SAU districts on Dec. 23. Ron said, “They get one in August, which is contractual, and another flex day, for nighttime commitments and other things that they stay on.”
Board members discussed alignment with SAU and SST schedules and noted town election dates. One member asked whether the calendar should start after Labor Day and end a week later in June; staff explained calendar changes require discussion at the SAU joint board and with the SST (SAU technical school) representatives.
A board member moved to approve the academic calendar for 2025–26; a second followed. The motion passed unanimously. Chair Brian was asked to sign the second page of the MOA in alignment with the approved calendar.
