Granite School District outlines summer construction, abatement and security upgrades

At a May 6 board meeting, district facilities staff briefed the Granite School District Board on a slate of summer construction, abatement and security projects across district campuses, and said several items remain subject to bidding or board approval.
The district plans new secure vestibules at Brockbank, Valley Crest and the new Cypress campus; staff said those three are under construction and should be open for the next school year. Justin, a district facilities staff member, said the projects will finish this summer and asked board members to raise questions if they had them. Kim Chandler, a board member, asked about material lead times; Justin said staff did not “envision long lead items” and expected the schedule to hold, though the work will require concentrated labor and quick abatement and move-in windows.
