Police Chief presented a request to move monies from small department accounts to cover equipment for a newly purchased cruiser and to allow details under a state Office of Highway Safety letter.
The chief asked to use $3,262 in a body‑camera account and all but $1 of $3,258 in a drug‑forfeiture account toward equipment needs, leaving $1 in the forfeiture account to keep it open. He proposed up to $20,000 from the detail fund if impact fees could not be used; Select Board members discussed whether impact fees could legally be applied to replacement equipment and asked staff to confirm before final allocation. The board approved the transfers subject to confirming appropriate lines; the motion passed with recorded ayes.
On a separate administrative item, the board reviewed model wording provided by the Office of Highway Safety authorizing a chief who is salaried for general duties to accept additional details paid at an overtime rate, and the board voted to sign the CLEO letter that permits the chief to be compensated for outside details when he works additional hours above his salaried expectations.
Both actions carried on majority votes and staff were asked to confirm final line items and preserve the grant/forfeiture accounting entries for audit.
