Commission approves 30-foot sewer easement across county airport property for Airport Loop Road development

County staff explained the easement request concerns a narrow parcel left when Airport Loop Road was built; the developer needs to cross that county-owned strip to reach a sewer main for a new development on the south side of Airport Loop Road near U.S. 29. Staff said the developer declined to purchase the strip and instead requested only an easement.
Commissioner Mike made the motion to approve the proposed sanitary sewer easement and to authorize the chairman to sign; Commissioner Craig seconded the motion. Counsel was asked to confirm the action was an easement rather than conveyance of property, and the board approved the motion by voice vote with no opposition recorded.
The action grants the developer a right to cross county airport property to access sewer infrastructure; the county retains ownership of the land. County staff did not describe any payment or compensation from the developer in the meeting record.
