Board approves hires/separations, gifts and CESA 12 contract; health-insurance premiums to rise 4.3%

The board discussed the reduced cost for the CESA contract compared with the prior year and staff said the reduction related to decreased special-education service needs.
Administration reported that district health-insurance premiums are projected to rise approximately 4.3% for the coming plan year; staff said earlier insurer proposals were higher and that the 4.3% figure was an improved outcome versus initial offers. The employer plan deductible minimums rose as required by federal rules (staff said the single deductible increased by $100 and family deductible by $200). Leaders said the district and its broker are continuing conversations with providers to pursue better long-term solutions and that insurance cost trends remain a significant fiscal pressure.
Board members moved and approved the hires/separations report and gifts/grants acceptance by voice vote; the CESA 12 shared-services contract was approved by motion and voice vote. No roll-call tallies were recorded during the public discussion.
