Superior School District board reorganizes leadership, amends April meeting dates

The Superior School District Board of Education held a special reorganization meeting during which members elected officers for the 2025–26 year, named representatives to regional organizations and changed two April 2026 meeting dates.
At the meeting, the board approved Steve Olsen as president by voice vote; Laura Gapske was elected vice president by secret ballot; Nick Olsen was approved as treasurer and Nick Schumacher as school clerk. Anne Schultz was appointed secretary/deputy clerk. The board also named Laura Gapske as delegate and Shelley Moen as alternate to the Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) annual convention and appointed Sarah Schubert McComb as the district representative to the Superior Scholarship Foundation Board of Directors.
Board members agreed to adjust the Committee of the Whole and regular board meeting dates in April 2026. A motion to amend the 2025–26 meeting schedule — changing the Committee of the Whole from April 13, 2026, and moving the regular board meeting (including any closed session) to April 20, 2026 at 5 p.m. — was moved, seconded and carried by voice vote.
During reorganization the board also discussed committee assignments and said staff would notify members of committee placements in advance of the next meeting. Members noted logistical concerns about meeting dates that fall on election nights and agreed to the amended April schedule.
The reorganization portion of the meeting included routine procedural ballots and several unanimous voice votes. No formal roll-call vote tallies were recorded in the public discussion; the minutes record the motions as carried.
