Trustees adopt ordinance updating Manteno building code to 2024 standards

He said updates include permit sections, appeals, contractor registration, address numbers, mailboxes, certificates of occupancy and exterior wall coverings, and that some fee increases were modest and tied to project valuation.
Trustee Crockett made the motion to approve the ordinance, which was seconded by Trustee Joel Geske; a roll-call vote followed and the motion passed. Trustees and staff said periodic code updates are standard practice and noted the costs of code books as one reason jurisdictions sometimes delay updates.
