On Hurricane Preparedness Week, the mayor read language urging residents and organizations to develop emergency response and recovery plans and called out guidance from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Texas Division of Emergency Management. “The best defense is preparedness and education regarding the damage of high winds, storms, flooding, and tornadoes,” the proclamation read.
The council also recognized Peace Officers Memorial Day (May 15) and Tomball Police Week (May 11–17). Police community relations staff — including Officer John Willard, Detective (name as spoken in transcript) and Sergeant Coco White — were introduced and acknowledged during the ceremony. The mayor’s proclamation referenced a joint resolution and Public Law 103-322 in observance of fallen officers.
