Administrators recommended adopting TransMath from Voyager Sopris Learning as a three-level middle-school math intervention resource, requesting $22,188 for student sets, instructor kits, assessments and virtual training.
USD 437 administrators recommended adopting TransMath, a three-level math-intervention program from Voyager Sopris Learning, to strengthen middle-school math intervention and requested $22,188 to purchase student sets, instructor kits, placement assessments and virtual training.
Presenters said the three levels build number sense, rational-number mastery and algebraic thinking and align with grade-level standards. The package includes adaptive software for mixed-ability classrooms and coaching and professional development, which administrators identified as a district need. The requested materials would cover roughly 210 student sets and accompanying instructor kits and are expected to support district interventionists and classroom teachers.
District staff described the current resources in use: Math 180 for many seventh-graders since fall 2019 and OnRamp for some eighth-graders since 2022; they said some older resources are no longer available. The proposal includes summer professional development and ongoing coaching during early-release days. Staff plan to monitor student progress regularly and use data to guide instruction.
During questions, the board asked about the number of students served; staff said purchase quantities are sized for about 210 students and class sizes would typically range from 10 to 15 students per intervention section. The request is presented for board consideration as a resource purchase and instructional strategy to be implemented with monitoring and coaching.
