Commissioners authorize application for INDOT rural public transportation grant; local match estimate discussed

Pulaski County commissioners approved a resolution authorizing the county’s transit agency to apply for a rural public transportation grant administered through the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT).

Jackie Frayn, the presenter, said the agency’s total grant budget was “like $301,000” and that the county’s share depends on other funding sources. Frayn said: “usually, our share is around a hundred and 37 to a hundred and $40,000. This year, when I did the math, it came out a hundred and 50. But that's if we get enough local money in because we can only get the... it's proportion to how much local cash you can get in.”

Frayn explained that the transit provider applied through a regional body that represents several rural counties and that the county must pass a formal resolution authorizing the agency to apply. She also noted the grant is competitive and the final award will depend on how much funding other partners contribute.

A commissioner moved to approve the INDOT transportation grant application and the motion passed by voice vote. Commissioners and staff said the resolution is a routine procedural step to allow the agency to pursue potential funding; the exact county match will be set after grant awards and final budget reconciliation.
