VDOT update: Lee McKnight (VDOT) told the board the county is in paving season with work on Philpott Road, Route 620, Route 640, Stormont and Fishing Bay Road among routes receiving surface treatment. McKnight highlighted a proposed left‑turn lane onto Regent Road from Route 33 at the Route 333/626 Regent Road intersection, currently scheduled to begin December 2026, and a northbound bridge replacement over Dragon Run on Route 17 projected for early 2026 that could be accelerated. He also noted an upcoming public meeting for a shared‑use path segment on June 5.
Board response and follow-up: Supervisors asked staff to coordinate with VDOT on specific shoulder and ditch work for the roads raised during public comment and to pursue tree trimming in areas where vegetation narrows travel lanes. The chairman asked staff to email VDOT about a small paved section behind the middle school so crews can schedule work and to notify the county at least a week before crews begin so speed bumps can be removed.
