Howard County commissioners voted to accept the jail project RFP committee's recommendation to select Carmong as the developer for a planned jail project.
County staff explained the jail committee had issued a request for proposals and recommended Carmong for the project. "The recommendation was that Carmong be selected as the, developer of the project," a staff presenter said; the board then discussed the committee's work and praised the committee's evaluation.
One commissioner thanked the RFP committee and said, "I think they did their due diligence. I think they worked hard. They evaluated these. And it was, I think, a fair, honest, and, just recommendation to the commissioners, and I appreciate what they did." Following a motion and second, the board voted in favor of accepting the recommendation.
The chair announced the recommendation acceptance on the record. No contract value, timeline, or specific contractual conditions were read into the meeting record at the time of the vote; the board indicated it looked forward to working with the selected firm.
