The Aventura City Commission on May 6 approved a midyear amendment to the fiscal 2024‑25 operating and capital budget that included financing for several unanticipated repairs and projects and a reallocation of available revenues.
City staff said the amendment covers flood damage repairs, emergency and hurricane supplies, park and recreational improvements including basketball court work and pickleball lighting and fencing, government center roofing repairs, and new city welcome signs. The package also adds about $925,000 for repaving Country Club Drive; staff said the repaving will be offset by Citizens Independent Transportation Trust (CITT) funds where eligible.
The manager also said the budget amendment includes funding for an engineering study supported by a Vision Zero (Vision 0) grant tied to the stormwater master plan and efforts to improve the city’s Community Rating System (CRS) rating — an outcome that may lower flood‑insurance premiums for residents.
Commissioners approved the midyear amendment unanimously and several praised the finance staff for their work in tracking and presenting the adjustments.
