Taylor Seathrop Williams Design Group (presented by Scott Seathrop and Sam Weiser) described a three-stage process — visioning, strategy development and an implementation action plan — and highlighted tailored outreach tools, steering-committee usage, and optional attachments for transportation and market analysis. Taylor Seathrop Williams said they would produce an action-oriented plan they expect the county to use annually to track progress.
Veritas (presented by Jack Woods, Civitas Strategies) focused on a strong implementation lens and on aligning growth, land use and economic development with local quality-of-life priorities. The team emphasized targeted stakeholder meetings, broad online survey engagement and an approximately 12-month timeline that includes implementation matrices linking actions, partners, costs and phasing.
American StructurePoint (presented by Phil Rob) described a planning practice nested in a larger engineering firm, noting the advantage of on-call technical support for infrastructure, transportation and drainage questions. StructurePoint emphasized public outreach options (local pop-up events, virtual platforms) and a final “critical-path strategies” section to translate plan recommendations into prioritized, actionable steps.
Commissioners said a separate scoring committee, which included commissioners and outside reviewers, had already shortlisted three teams and would meet in the coming week to select a consultant. No final selection or contract award was made at the May 5 meeting; commissioners asked the firms to provide sample plans and implementation examples for review and said staff would circulate materials to the scoring committee.
Ending — Commissioners asked staff to post sample materials and plan examples from each firm; a follow-up selection discussion is expected within weeks to award the comprehensive-plan contract and begin public engagement work before summer.
