The Kent County Board of County Commissioners approved a Class D beer, wine and liquor license on Wednesday for Main Wine LLC at 57–58 North Main Street in Rock Hall.
Inspector Parasol of Kent Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement told the board the applicant, Susan McEwen, had met application requirements, the prehearing inspection was complete and legal review cleared the file. McEwen said Main Wine’s plan is to be a small downtown stop-in wine bar offering “wine, beer, and some mixed drinks” and light snacks — “nuts, chips, pretzels” — with limited hours starting Thursday through Saturday from about 3 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
With no public comment, a commissioner moved and the board unanimously approved the license application. The license authorizes on-premises consumption and sale at the Rock Hall location once the business completes any remaining licensing steps.
McEwen told the board her goal is to help reduce vacancy on Main Street and to provide a local gathering spot for residents and visitors. Inspector Parasol remained with the applicants during the meeting and the board closed the hearing by approving the application.
