Board signs plats and approves several routine contracts and encroachments

At its May 5 meeting the Greenwood Board of Public Works and Safety approved a series of routine land-development and contract items, including final plats, small construction contracts and encroachment requests.
The board accepted the final plat and authorized execution for Zimmer Village Shops (lots on Madison Avenue and Elm Street) after staff confirmed revised lot lines and a minor land addition for Lot 4. The board also approved the split of Block C in the Sports Crossing Commercial subdivision and accepted performance guarantees for several Sagebriar (Del Webb) sections and related inspection and maintenance agreements — some approvals were conditional on receipt of revised performance guarantees.
On contracts and construction items, the board approved a $14,140 landscaping contract for airport work and authorized a $4,950 emergency replacement of a collapsed storm structure on the Country Air partial-reconstruction project. The board also approved a Chime Master electronic bell system to be mounted on a city building; the contract details were presented and approved without extensive discussion.
Staff recommended and the board approved two residential fence encroachment requests into drainage and utility easements with conditions recommended by staff. Several motions were approved on voice votes or subject to final paperwork; where staff noted outstanding items, approvals were made subject to those conditions being met.
Why this matters: These approvals advance local development projects, maintenance work and small capital improvements and ensure city records, guarantees and inspection requirements are in place to protect public infrastructure and property interests.
