Staff also presented a long list of course‑level consumable fees and specialty charges (language workbooks, CTE supplies, art consumables and lab fees). Many of the smaller fees appear because a course runs at both campuses or in both semesters; some consumables are optional when families already own the materials.
Board members asked whether families raise concerns about the $2.50 per family or other fees; staff said they had not received complaints and that fee waivers and payment plans are available for families who qualify or who ask for assistance. Sanchez said the district budgets for free/reduced students and does not cover consumable charges by raising fees for other students.
On the calendar, the administration proposed restoring the faculty day the Friday before Presidents Day to provide a consistent cadence to the school year and to align better with feeder district calendars; the board will consider the calendar at its next reading and vote.
Staff said the fees must be approved in time to open the online payment portal and finalize course charges for the upcoming school year; the tentative schedule calls for formal action at the May 19 regular meeting.
