"Preferably, would love to have this court, Gatewood Court, closed just for pedestrian use," Rees said, showing a map of two cul-de-sacs and the planned layout.
Staff and police officials raised concerns about traffic control and emergency access. The police chief said he had not previously been consulted and questioned what traffic-control measures would be used. He also said that a full street closure would require officers to be hired for traffic control and that parking during the event would likely need to be restricted to one side of narrow streets.
Rees estimated attendance between 50 and 200 people — noting an earlier January event drew about 30–40 visitors — and asked for a four-hour closure from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday. The board added the request that the event hire officers and limit parking to one side; it also extended any noise consideration to 8 p.m. as part of the motion. The motion to approve the closure with those conditions passed on a voice vote.
