The board approved a $38,750 change order for parking-lot improvements and a $183,459.29 change order for drain-tile repairs and installation of storm and sanitary sewer appurtenances.
City staff said the contractor, identified in paperwork as Dave O'Mear's firm, encountered multiple previously unrecorded utilities and required additional bores and repair work. The board approved the change orders by voice vote after brief discussion.
Why this matters: The additional work reflects incomplete or inaccurate subsurface mapping on older parts of the city and raises the contract cost for a commercial redevelopment. The city said the work was necessary to complete the project and proceed with final acceptance.
