Scituate committee reviews multi‑year curriculum management plan to guide PK–12 updates through 2031

Assistant Superintendent Ryan Lynch presented the Scituate School Committee with a districtwide curriculum management plan on May 5, 2025, proposing a coordinated, multi‑year schedule for reviewing and updating curriculum across PK–12.

The plan lays out a continuous cycle — review, recommend/develop, implement and monitor/refine — and assigns departments to phases on a grid through 2031. Lynch said the goal is to standardize processes for collecting teacher and student input, align PK–12 work and tie updates to budget planning.

Lynch told the committee, “an engaging and aligned curriculum is an essential component of successful teaching and learning,” and said the plan formalizes a process already used informally by department chairs and coordinators. He said the district is partnering this year with a curriculum‑review firm (Hilfer Literacy) to conduct a strengths‑and‑needs assessment for English language arts, grades 6–12.
