The bids opened April 10 included Crystal Image Cleaning ($2,800/month), All in 1 Cleaning ($3,465/month), Kanop Cleaning Services ($5,000/month), Razor Clean Building Services ($5,750.50/month), Custodius Chicago ($6,850/month) and Morgan Building Maintenance ($7,299/month).
County staff said they inspected each room in the courthouse and will document expectations for the winning contractor in a written scope of work. "We went through every room in that entire building," the staff member said, describing the walkthroughs with bidding firms. The staff member also said they will meet with each elected official and department head after contract award to record office-specific cleaning expectations.
Miss Hayes moved to accept the Crystal Image Cleaning bid and Mister McKenna seconded the motion; the board then voted to approve the contract. The meeting record does not include a roll-call vote tally in the transcript.
When asked how long the contract would run, the presenting staff member said they would prefer a two-year agreement to allow adjustments and to avoid frequent renewals. The staff member said details about contract term and any annual adjustments will be included in the written contract documents provided to the board.
Board discussion included a preference to hire a local contractor when feasible and a note that two of the highest bids did not include a site tour. The board chair called for the vote and the motion carried.
