Court approves statewide automated victim notification service agreement

Washington County Commissioners Court on May 6 approved a service agreement to transition the county’s automated victim notification service to a new statewide vendor (referred to in the record as the VINEs contract change) with implementation scheduled before August 31.
Staff said victims of crimes — including domestic violence victims — can subscribe to the service at no charge to receive notifications of a person’s release from custody; the service is intended to give victims time to make safety plans. Staff told the court there is no budget impact to the county for the vendor change and that an engagement letter must be sent by May 18 to meet the vendor timeline.
A motion to approve the service agreement was moved, seconded and adopted by voice vote; the presiding officer announced the motion carried.
