Kevin, who presented the item, told commissioners the design phase is complete and the county is ready to bid construction. He said the proposal from Sunrise Engineering totals "a hundred and $898,000" ($1,898,000) and that the work will be paid for with a state appropriation: "this would be paid for with funding that's provided by the state of Utah with its $18,000,000 appropriation for this project and also the Perouse Trail extension." The contract covers procurement management and inspections during construction for work inside the park.
Commissioners approved the resolution by voice vote. They characterized the project as complex because the work is in the National Park and requires specialized oversight.
County staff said the state appropriation is already allocated for the project and related trail work; the Sunrise Engineering agreement will enable the county to move the project from design into the procurement and construction phases.
