The Board of Public Works approved awarding a condition assessment contract to CPM Pipelines for $245,000 to inspect a two‑mile force main that experienced a corrosion‑related leak on Nov. 8, 2023.
Wastewater staff told the board the inspection requires installing a tap connection to insert an inline inspection tool; three specialized contractors were vetted and CPM Pipelines was preferred over alternatives because of lower cost, reliability through pipe bends and superior deliverable formats. Staff said the inspection is listed as CIP project 6017418 and is budgeted at $500,000 in 2025, and that the wastewater 601 budget (funded entirely through sewer user fees) is sufficient to support the contract.
A board member commended the superintendent for a clear vendor analysis, and the motion to award the contract was approved by voice vote. Staff will execute the contract and proceed with the inline inspection work as incorporated into the Northeast Wastewater Pump Station rehabilitation project.
