District updates: multipurpose room awarded, gym HVAC bid set and athletic field may need resurfacing in 1–3 years

Cliffside Park School District officials told the board that a multipurpose room contract has been awarded and that a bid opening is scheduled Thursday at 11:30 for the gymnasium HVAC project affecting schools No. 3 and No. 4.
Facilities staff said the district’s athletic field currently passes safety and concussion-related surface tests but indicated the field has “about another two to three years of shelf life,” at which point the district may go to bid for a new surface. Staff said they perform four maintenance sessions annually and conduct concussion testing before contact-season sports.
Administrators also noted continued use of CJ Vanderbeck for boiler inspections and cleaning, and Express Air as the HVAC-maintenance vendor; Land Associates remains one of the district’s architects of record. Staff said AHERA three‑year inspections showed no findings in recent reports.
The board did not take a final construction award at the meeting for the HVAC item; staff said they will update the board after the Thursday bid opening.
