Cliffside Park Board swears in two members, elects Terabakia president and Garcia vice president

The Cliffside Park Board of Education swore in two members and approved its reorganization agenda at its May 1, 2025, meeting, electing Jerry Terabakia president and Omaros Garcia vice president.

Board members and district staff said the oath of office for two newly seated members — including Lisa Fredo — before nominations for officer positions. The board then nominated and elected Terabakia as president; Omaros Garcia was nominated and elected vice president.

The reorganization motion to approve the agenda was made and seconded, and the board voted by roll call with the members present recorded as voting yes: Missus Abreu; Mister Capano; Mrs. Fredo; Mister Papziger; Madrude; Raycourt; Mister Russo; and Mister Terabakia. The motion carried.

Board members and administrators also acknowledged outgoing leadership and presented a plaque recognizing the prior president’s service to the district.

The board announced an ethics presentation by Vic Lapierre, scheduled to follow the reorganization items, and said it will send a resolution to the county confirming the presentation and that members had signed the district ethics code.

No expenditures or policy changes were adopted as part of the officer elections; the actions were organizational and procedural.
