At its April 22 meeting, the Westfield Town Council voted on multiple ordinances, resolutions and routine items. The council adopted general ordinance 2025-07, an ordinance to amend the Town of Westfield code, chapter 13. Councilman Dardia moved the ordinance for adoption; the motion was seconded and carried by roll call.
The council also adopted general ordinance 2025-08, to amend the Town of Westfield code, chapter 10A. Councilman Healy moved the ordinance for adoption; the motion was seconded and carried by roll call.
The Special Improvement District (Downtown Westfield Corporation) 2025 budget was presented at public hearing with no public comment and adopted by the council. Council members recounted the history of the SID and noted a recent $150,000 Main Street New Jersey District Transformation Grant that will support downtown beautification projects.
On first reading the council moved general ordinance 2025-09, which would amend salary step guides for police and fire department employees in connection with a new collective bargaining agreement; the ordinance was introduced and will return for formal adoption on a later date.
The council approved payment of bills and claims in the amount of $2,846,506.12.
Council members moved to amend an award of contract to H. L. Petroleum for removal of an unidentified underground storage tank at the public works garage at 959 North Avenue; additional costs were cited at approximately $9,000. The amendment was seconded and carried.
Other routine motions carried included approval of minutes from the April 8, 2025 conference and regular meetings and a resolution authorizing certain recreation and risk-management finance actions that were folded into a finance package moved earlier in the meeting.
