Adams County commissioners adopt ordinance rezoning property for Hillty Lumber from agricultural to C-3 commercial

The Adams County Board of Commissioners approved Ordinance 2025-6 to rezone the property identified by the Planning Commission at 476 West (legal description on file) from agricultural to C-3 general commercial.
Clayton (county staff) presented the Planning Commission’s record and said the commission recommended the rezoning to the board with a 6–0 vote. “The Adams County Planning Commission hereby certified the rezoning described to the board of commissioners, and they provide a due pass recommendation, with the vote 6 0,” Clayton said.
Commissioners said the property has operated as a business for many years and that rezoning will allow proper permitting for planned building changes. Staff explained the parcel had been treated as a nonconforming agricultural use under earlier zoning and the rezoning removes that status. Clayton introduced Adams County Ordinance 2025-6 with the legal description attached as Exhibit A.
A motion to adopt Ordinance 2025-6 was moved and seconded; the board proceeded with the action during the meeting record. Staff said the planning commission recommendation would be filed with the ordinance.
The rezoning decision allows the property owner, doing business as Hillty Lumber (MHS Enterprises), to pursue commercial permits tied to the new zoning classification.
