Marion County names oversight committee officers, sets meeting schedule after sales surtax vote

Jeremy Powers, school board attorney, opened the May 6 meeting of the Marion County School Capital Outlay Surtax Oversight Committee and reviewed the committee’s bylaws and responsibilities. "My name is Jeremy Powers. I am the school board attorney," he said.

The committee, created after Marion County voters approved a one‑half cent school capital outlay sales surtax in the Nov. 5, 2024, general election, elected officers and set a quarterly meeting schedule. The group elected Matt Fabian as chair in absentia, Wally Wagner as vice chair and Jamie Zublik as secretary. The committee agreed to hold its next three quarterly meetings at 4 p.m. on July 9, Sept. 24 and Dec. 3, 2025.
