The Wetumpka City Council held a public hearing and voted to approve an ordinance rezoning a series of nonconforming parcels on Cuppy Street from B-1 (business) to R-3 (residential).
Council members said the ordinance amends a prior zoning map change identified in Ordinance 99-4, adopted Sept. 2, 1999. The properties were described in the hearing as lots 130 through 155, in the block in front of Out of Place Cafe. No members of the public spoke in favor of or against the rezoning during the hearing.
After the public hearing the council moved, seconded and approved the rezoning by voice vote; the presiding official asked for those in favor to say "aye," and none registered opposition on the record. The transcript shows the council followed the standard public hearing procedure: call for comments, hearing none, motion, second and voice vote.
Because no public commenters addressed the ordinance, the council did not enter into extended discussion. The council did not attach additional conditions to the rezoning in this meeting. Any appeals or administrative follow-up were not discussed on the record.
The action was taken under the council's zoning authority; the ordinance cited on the agenda was identified as Ordinance 2025-3 and referenced the earlier Ordinance 99-4 (adopted Sept. 2, 1999). The council did not provide a timetable for implementation or publication of the amended zoning map during the meeting.
The council moved on to other agenda items following the vote.
